The 2024 season is about to kick off. The Michigan Wolverines are playing a football game today!
Michigan will play a Maize vs. Blue game at the Big House scheduled to air on FOX at noon ET that will showcase players from every position across the depth chart. It will be a great chance for the coaching staff to see their guys competing in a live-action contest in front of fans for the first time since winning the National Championship in January.
So what can be expected from the game?
The Quarterback Duel
With J.J. McCarthy departing for the NFL Draft, the Wolverines will throw out some quarterbacks who will be vying for the starting job.
Jack Tuttle, Alex Orji, Jayden Denegal, Davis Warren and Jadyn Davis will all have a fair shot to win the starting gig, and we expect most of them to see the field today.
While all the guys bring something different to the table, there will be a lot of eyes on how they handle interior pressure from Mason Collapse

Michigan football returns to action this weekend! Most football programs have already had their spring game, but the Michigan Wolverines will take the field this Saturday for a nationally televised contest between the Maize and the Blue teams. It will be the first time the Wolverines have touched the field in the Big House since Rod Moore intercepted Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord to seal the win over the Buckeyes.
Since then, the Wolverines have had an extremely eventful last five months. The team made the College Football Playoff, won the National Championship, and announced Sherrone Moore the head coach as Jim Harbaugh exited for the NFL.
The first glimpse of the 2024 season is now upon us with the spring game, and here are all the details you need to know:

The highest-ranked class in program history is coming to Ann Arbor. There’s a bit of uncertainty surrounding Michigan women’s basketball at the moment, with Laila Phelia and other key players in the transfer portal. The roster could look completely different following a Round of 64 exit, the first of Kim Barnes Arico’s career as Michigan’s head coach. By the standards Michigan fans had come to expect, it was a bit of a down season, considering the Wolverines had made the Round of 32 the five seasons prior, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2022.
Despite the early exit in the tournament and those aforementioned players in the portal, there is a lot to be excited about the future of the program thanks to a five-woman class that is ranked No. 7.

Dusty May is getting back one of the program’s most passionate players. As new Michigan men’s basketball head coach Dusty May feverishly works to plug some of the Wolverines’ scholarship vacancies, one key player is already locked in for the 2024 season — forward Will Tschetter.
He had a career season for the Wolverines in 2023-24, averaging 6.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Tschetter also improved his three-point shooting to a respectable 51.9 percent.
As a talented player, Tschetter undoubtedly could have garnered interest from plenty of programs in the transfer portal. The allure of potentially finding a better fit elsewhere or seeking more playing time can be tempting for any athlete. However, Tschetter’s decision to remain with the Wolverines underscores a deeper connection he has developed with the university, the coaching staff, and his teammates.

To replace Elston, newly appointed head coach, Sherrone Moore, hired Greg Scruggs from the Wisconsin Badgers, but two weeks after accepting the position, Scruggs resigned due to being charged with an OWI.
To find a second replacement, Moore poached Western Michigan’s defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Lou Esposito, who was with the Broncos from 2017-23 and was hired by Memphis in January of this year.
